Boarding home for the regular school boys
The boys home also remains as a boarding home for the regular
school going boys, who hail from under privileged and deserving families. The
boys from surrounding village after their primary schooling (5thstd)
come to us to continue their studies (from 6th). This we do under prevention of
school dropouts. They are helped to continue middle school and high school
level education in the campus itself. In the future we are planning to help
these children also complete their higher secondary. Presently we have 75 boys
as boarders in this category. We provide them with food, shelter& clothing
and also bear all their essential expenses.
The History of the House Don Bosco Boys' home, Thattanchavady is a home for the orphans, destitute, school dropouts, street children and young at risk. This is a public welfare, service oriented, non-profitable institution started in the year 1986 for the school dropouts in and around Pondicherry and the nearby villages, irrespective of caste, creed and colour. It accepts them with open arms and gives them education, guidance, love, attention and calls for their individual capacity and inclination. Besides their educational needs food, shelter and clothes are provided.
