Don Bosco Boys’ Home at Thattanchavady, Puducherryis run by the Salesians of Don Bosco of Chennai Province. It is a non-profitable institution. This home caters to boys in need, irrespective of their caste, creed nor colour. Don Bosco Boys home gives refuge to the boys who are economically and socially marginalized. It welcomes children who are destitute, orphans and abandoned on a case-to-case basis since founded in 1985. This home gives these children love, attention and helps them to become integral human persons.
The
boys home has different groups of inmates- school going children, school
dropouts, street children, working youth, computer, electrical, plumbing
and carpentry trainees. The beneficiaries mostly hail from the surroundings of Puducherryand
nearby villages. During April- May Rector/ Director personally visits the nearby
villages to look for most deserving children who are at risk and are
economically and socially marginalized.
The History of the House Don Bosco Boys' home, Thattanchavady is a home for the orphans, destitute, school dropouts, street children and young at risk. This is a public welfare, service oriented, non-profitable institution started in the year 1986 for the school dropouts in and around Pondicherry and the nearby villages, irrespective of caste, creed and colour. It accepts them with open arms and gives them education, guidance, love, attention and calls for their individual capacity and inclination. Besides their educational needs food, shelter and clothes are provided.
